If I advocate for my rights as a woman
am not betraying my man

because I think for myself

Cherry Natural

Cherry Natural est une earthwoman de Jamaïque. Elle habite actuellement au Royaume-Uni où elle représente le dub poetry au féminin, genre qu'elle développe depuis 1979 et qui lui a valu de nombreuses récompenses. Le dub poetry est un genre poétique très populaire en Jamaïque ; l'artiste le plus éminemment connu étant Linton Kwesi Johnson (LKJ). Cherry exerce son art égalemment avec sa fille, Little Natural, qui vole peu à peu de ses propres ailes : elle travaille actuellement sur son propre recueil de poésie. Cherry Natural a sorti un second livre en 2002 nommé Earth Woman qui parle des femmes connectées avec la Terre. Earth Woman enseigne l'amour propre pour se guérir soi-même de ses maux.
Cherry Natural est également professeur d'Arts Martiaux (lesquels... ?) et possède donc une ceinture noire. Elle enseigne l'auto-défense aux femmes et aux enfants ; son combat est un combat contre l'injustice, les inégalités, et elle est souvent décrite comment une révolutionnaire très engagée de par ses textes et son action militante, notamment pour la défense des droits des femmes.
